AnJuan Thomas, better known as “Just Juan” because it’s both amazing and ridiculous how many people can’t say AN-WON, is not the typical guy you’d likely encounter in day-to-day passing. He’s a Southern-bred guy who’s spent almost all of his adult life living points elsewhere—both foreign and domestic. The result of that is a 30-something guy who’s considered to be versatile, multifaceted, and very much interculturally competent. A naturally cool, calm, and collected individual, he’s a bit old-fashioned with contemporary tendencies. A self-proclaimed Renaissance man with a free-spirited approach to life after normal business hours, he is a fierce advocate for education, having acquired every degree up to, and including the Master’s level. He places an equal premium on traveling, taking pride in having done quite a bit—both professionally and in leisure—and having the opportunity to take up residence in a few foreign countries and global cities over the years. Aside from his interests in the arts—visual, literary, and performing—he enjoys sports of all kinds, experiencing new things in life, and spending time with his wife and toddler son. Forever grounded by humble beginnings and the roles others played in what he’s become today, he’s passionate about helping others and their development into the best version of themselves.
A decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, he served honorably as a civil engineer for 10 years—mostly in Europe and Asia though there were a couple of Stateside assignments. He also served a stint in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and is a recipient of the prestigious Major General Eugene Lupia Award. After deciding to “chart [his] own course by taking the road less traveled”, he separated from military service in 2013 and started a career in Federal civil service. In 2020, he was appointed into the United States Foreign Service, where he continues his work in service to his nation.
