Introducing Diplomatic Stories

As I noted in August, there are some new features that will be debuting here at The Book of Juan. One of those features I’m excited to introduce is the Diplomatic Stories series. As you know, I’ve been contributing to the Dreams of a Diplomat series for almost 8 years now as my journey as a Foreign Service Facility Manager has been chronicled. My experience as part of the 158-204 Foreign Service Orientation class definitely revealed that there are many, many people with incredible stories about their ascension to diplomatic service. Now that I’m here in the field, I’ve met even more interesting diplomats in my day-to-day interactions as an FSFM.

That written I will be opening up the site to guest contributors as I suggested I would 8 years ago. With Diplomatic Stories, the experiences of my colleagues in the United States Foreign Service will be featured. This career and lifestyle is very unique, largely unknown, and often misinterpreted by “civilians”. It is my hope that my colleagues will provide a look into their specific Foreign Service journey as a means of helping The Book of Juan’s readership better understand that this career and lifestyle is more than just the United States Secretary of State or an ambassador.

Check back as the first contribution in this series will be featured shortly.
