I was originally born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx until the age of 21. At this point, I joined the Air Force and started a new chapter in my life. When I was in basic training I was exposed to being yelled at, waking up super early every day, exercising, setting up my underwear neatly in my locker, and constantly getting inspected. I thought I had made the biggest mistake in my life. Basic training was not fun. After 6 weeks I shipped out to Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas where I attended Jet engine repair school. Life at Sheppard was like college dorm life so it was a huge change from basic. After I graduated from tech school I had several assignments, which allotted me the opportunity to work on the F-111, A-10 Warthog, and the C-5 Galaxy aircraft. Eight years went by and it was time for a change so I crossed trained into the Operations Management career field, which at this point my new home was the Civil Engineering Squadron. I spent a total of 22 years in the Air Force and I had many great experiences and traveled to various locations around the world including the Middle East. I am thankful to the military for changing my life I got to meet my wife and great people like my really good friend AnJuan, who asked me to share my story. I wish all my military brothers and sisters Happy Veterans Day.
