I read on Twitter today that King Vitamin was discontinued as a breakfast cereal. If you’re expecting me to feel bad over that, you’re in the wrong space. Without any further ado, this week’s moment in the Flashback Friday series: King Vitamin breakfast cereal.
How I first came across this moment? My mother bought it. Do I really need to go into much further detail?
What it meant to me then? I absolutely hated that breakfast cereal. It was a constant reminder of my socioeconomic status. With every bite came a reminder that I wasn’t eating Cap’n Crunch. I remember being on a date with The Cocoa Goddess, during my time in Valdosta, and telling her that I was “eating King Vitamin 7 days a week” poor growing up as a kid in Birmingham.
What it means to me now? If it really is discontinued, there is no love lost here. King Vitamin was straight trash, no recycling.
