Flashback Friday Moment of The Week: 4/22/2016

Last night, in the midst of me enjoying a cheese pizza from Hungry Howie’s and a green apple slush from Sonic, I had one of the best desserts on the board. It was one I actually waited 15 minutes for in the Pensacola Publix. It was absolutely delicious and now it’s worthy of my font. That brings me to this week’s moment in the Flashback Friday series: the Publix vanilla cream cheese cake slice.

How I first came across this moment? I was first introduced to the vanilla cream cheese cake slice from Publix when I moved to Opelika about 3 years back. I was doing some grocery shopping for the new place and I had a bit of a sweet tooth. The only cake slices available that evening were red velvet cream cheese, vanilla cream cheese, and vanilla buttercream. I’ve never been much of a red velvet fan and buttercream is kinda too bland for my taste so vanilla cream cheese it was.

What it meant to me then? In the moment, back in August 2013, that cake slice was like a piece of heaven. It was so savory, so delicious.

What it means to me now? The Publix vanilla cream cheese cake slice is one of my favorite desserts. These days, I zap it in the microwave for about 15 seconds and man, I tell you this much…that taste doesn’t get better. Fortunately for me, the new place is right across the street from a Publix so I can walk over every day and get a slice. Heck, I may even get a whole cake.
