Flashback Friday Moment of The Week: 7/31/2015

On the way home from work earlier this evening, I was listening to The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz on ESPN Radio. As is their weekly custom to close Friday shows, they opened “The Club”, which is a segment where humorous clips from the show are played over one of the hottest songs of the 1980s. That brings me to this week’s moment in the Flashback Friday series: Debbie Deb’s “Lookout Weekend”.

How I first came across this moment? I first came across the track way back in 2005, when I was stationed at Moody Air Force Base. One of the guys who lived in my building was big into techno and dance music. This track was usually in his rotation on the Friday night parties he threw. That was pretty much how I was introduced to the track.

What it meant to me then? In the moment, it was just another track I heard in passing. The beat was catchy though. It got me to moving a little bit.

What it means to me now? Today, I only hear it when at the tail end of The Dan Le Batard Show. There was the one time I heard it at a foam party in Singapore. It was there where I really saw how the “jumping music, slick deejays, fog machines and laser rays” line played out.
